Who are we?

We are a family born and raised in Hawaii blogging about the interesting things happening in our lives at home, at work, and everywhere else.

Between raising our 2.4-year-old son Ensen and caring of our two cats Jabbey and Tikki, Kelly and Nathan try not to spend too much time watching TV, playing video games, or being consumed with social media. We enjoy cooking/barbecuing, and spending time with family and friends. Not to mention, we love living in 80-degree weather year-round.

As the saying goes, lucky you live Hawaii! We couldn’t agree more.

Aloha,
The Kams

  1. Hope I’m not intruding…

I thought I was the only one with my name…. If you don’t mind, where did you come up with the name Ensen?

  2. Aloha Ensen Mason…my wife actually “came up” with the name. We were searching for a name that was different, but not too far out there and settled on Ensen. As it turns out, there’s a well-known ultimate fighter from Hawaii named Ensen Inouye…so there’s actually a third one in the world. Thanks for stopping by…where are you from?

  3. Hello, my name is Vibeke Froejk Thomsen from Vinderup and Keld Christensen is my distant cousin. I will be visiting Oahu this Thanksgiving and it would be fun to say hello to Keld. Do you have his email address?

  4. Hey Kelly, Nate, and Ensen…Long time we didn’t see you guys! Can’t wait to see all of you on Saturday. Hey, let’s make another play date.

  5. I’m from California. My name came from the Navy – it’s an entry level officer. It was suppose to be spelled Ensign, but my grandmother misspelled it.

  6. Hi! Came across your website while searching for people going to the Sugar Bowl. I’ll be there as well. I’ll be blogging my journey. I’ll try to keep an eye out for you and say I if we run into each other. See my blog at http://sugarbowlbound.blogspot.com.

BTW, it’s Ensen Inoue not Inouye…but who’s keeping score?

Have a safe and fun trip and see you in New Orleans! Go Warriors!

  7. Hi. My wife and I are expecting our first child. The name I have always wanted to call my first son is Ensen. I got it from the character Ensign Pulver, a Naval officer from the movies Mr. Powell (1955) and Ensign Pulver (the sequel to Mr. Powell, 1964) As my last name is Pulver, I thought it would be cool.

I too was unaware that there were any other Ensens out there. I guess soon you can make it four Ensens in the world.

  11. Hi Nate, Kelly and Ensen! Can I just tell you your bebe is so cute! I am so glad you have this blog – it’s a nice way to check in and make sure everyone is healthy and happy. I don’t think we’ll be coming home for awhile, so take care and keep posting cute pics!

  13. Glad to meet you. Found your blog trying to learn the latest news about Pele. Was looking for info about what’s happening in Volcano Village. Last UPI report I read said a voluntary evacuation had been ordered. Hope you’re staying healthy.

Looks like you have an interesting blog here, so may stop by from time to time. I live on the Mainland in the So. Cal. area

  14. Aloha Kams,

My name is John Sangmeister and I’m one of the owners of the Lahaina Mai Tai Lounge. Thank you for taking time from your Maui production schedule to film at our restaurant. Is it possible to get a copy of that interview? We’d love to promote “Three Sheets” and include the episode on our website.

Feel free to contact me directly through email. I look forward to meeting you.

    Mahalo,

    John Sangmeister

  15. Hey Nathan!

We met at the Westin Ka anapali a few weeks ago. I tried to find your contact info from various hawaii visitor’s websites and I ended up coming across your blog. I just wanted to thank you for introducing us to the Three Sheets cast and giving us some recommendations for our time in Hawai’i. Great call on the Maui Brewing Coconut Porter. Thats all I basically drank while in Maui. The trip was one of my best vacations ever and I am already planning next year’s trip; the second of which I hope will be many annual trips to the islands. Keep in touch!

    Aloha

    Vince

  17. Aloha Vince,

Great to hear from you and nice meeting you on Maui. Glad you enjoyed the Maui Brewing Company Coconut Porter. It’s my new favorite local beer. Don’t forget to tune into the Hawaii episode of Three Sheets in January 2009.

    Aloha,
    Nathan

  18. Aloha Suzanne,

Of course I remember you on the Hawaiian Airlines flight from Maui to Honolulu. The vodka I was probably talking about was Ocean Vodka and Pau Maui Vodka (slated to hit the stores soon, but not out yet). Both are made in Hawaii and on Maui specifically. If you check out my Three Sheets posts on the blog, there’s links that will take you there. Hope you enjoy your time when you get back on the 26th.

    Cheers,
    Nathan

  19. Aloha Nathan,

I thought you might get a kick out of the attached article. The Lahaina Mai Tai Lounge was recently named “Best Mai Tai on Maui” by the readers of the Maui Times. We were also named Runner-Up for “Best New Restaurant” on Maui.

Thanks for the positive feedback with Zane. I’ll be on Oahu Aug. 4-6 and thought you might like to tour our new location at the Hawaiian Village.

I look forward to meeting you.

    Aloha,

    John Sangmeister

  20. John,

First off congratulations on all the awards. Based on what I saw that night at Lahaina Mai Tai Lounge, it’s well deserved. We’re all anxiously awaiting the airing of Three Sheets in January 2009. When you’re in town in August, please give me a call and would love to see the new location at HHV. Until then, have a great day and a great weekend.

    Aloha,
    Nathan
