Bye, Bye Flossie!

Choosing a career in public relations and representing clients that include the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) means that when a hurricane is in the area threatening visitors, it’s going to be a long day. And today was a long day. Crisis communications has been a common theme at McNeil Wilson Communication over the past year with 40 days of rain and floods last March and a 6.7 earthquake on the Big Island on October 15…and now Flossie.

Latest news reports have downgraded Flossie to a Category 1 storm which is good news for locals and visitors. It also means the press release I was grinding on today will see the light of day very soon in the national media. Aloha Flossie and it was nice knowing you.

After a long day at the office, I feel like this guy in a painting I saw at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.
