Hawaii Celebrates Children and Youth Month

October is Children & Youth Month in Hawaii and a huge celebration was held in downtown Honolulu yesterday with tons of games, food, and entertainment. The Kam family decided to investigate the buzz in and around the Hawaii State Capitol, and while most of the offerings were geared more for the older kids, we did manage to enjoy a beautiful, warm sunny day out on the town.

We took advantage of the free Iolani Palace self-guided tours and Ensen enjoyed checking out the HFD firetruck and HPD patrol bikes (as you can see mommy did too).

It was also nice to run into a few friends along the way, including the Valdez family who made the trip into town to check out the fun.

We’ll look forward to checking out this event again next year when “Little E” is a bit older. Until then, you can find more photos from our adventures on my Flickr page.

Aiyah, would have loved to take my 4 yr old daughter but we didn’t know about this event. Heck, I’d love to take that police bike for a spin too! =) Also, haven’t been to Iolani Palace since I was in elementary school, shucks. Next year!
