Side Street Inn's legendary pan-fried pork chops.

My parents dropped into town for the long Labor Day weekend, so we took the opportunity to introduce my dad to Side Street Inn, the local institution famous for its Pan-Fried Pork Chops and menu of ono (delicious) local comfort foods that keep people coming back again and again. You know a restaurant must be good when it has no website, doesn’t need to advertise, is constantly busy, and the wait to be seated can often be more than an hour. It’s definitely one of the hottest tables on Oahu.

Yes, Side Street Inn IS that good. And yes, we did wait an hour and a half before our party of seven got seated last night (they do take reservations for larger groups, so call ahead if you know you’re going). But was it worth the wait? ABSOLUTELY! And thankfully, my dad enjoyed himself, especially the pork chops which I’ve been raving to him about for the past few years. He agreed it lived up to the hype we all built the Side Street experience up to be.

We had a lot to eat last night. Here’s a peek at the rest of the menu through the lense of my iPhone (I apologize in advance for not doing the food any justice). Everyone should have a Side Street experience at least once…or 50 times…in their life. 😉

There's nothing fancy about Side Street Inn. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FOOD! It's literally located on a side street. The interior isn't going to win the restaurant any awards. And the proper attire is whatever you're wearing when you get there. The perfect recipe for a great local restaurant experience.
